The 48140 trainer introduces students to a variety of electronic circuits from simple lighting to automated industrial systems and provides students with a basic understanding of electronic systems. The activities are informative and captivating. Students build circuits that simulate electronic systems such as a public address system, an electronic motor speed control, an elevator control system, and a railroad warning light.

The computer software is filled with animations that show real-life applications. Other software features include immediate feedback on quiz questions, and a password-protected grade book.
